Big Day in Rotherham
I met Bride and Groom Kay and Ryan at their Rotherham home in the run-up to the wedding to discuss the details of their upcoming ‘big day’.
Kay and Ryan decided to book us after being impressed by a wedding video we produced for their friends marriage. And after checking my social media and (this) website Kay emailed me to ask if we could photograph their upcoming nuptials.
An Early Start
On the day of the wedding we arrived in Rotherham early in the morning. We always do this to get shots of the bride-to-be as she and the wedding party are getting ready. We also captured shots of shoes, dresses, jewellery and other small details which help to make the day special. After this it was time to make our way quickly to the wedding venue.
At the venue I was able to get some great photographs of Ryan and his Best Man as they waited nervously for the ceremony to begin.
Rotherham Golf Club
This is the very first time my team and I had shot a wedding at Rotherham Golf Club. As soon we arrived I spent the first 30 minutes searching for places for to shoot. The Neo-Gothic house and grounds of Thryberg Park were fantastic. Whilst searching I noticed quite a few pictures hung-up of golfer Danny Willet. Danny won the USA Masters Tournament in 2016. I had previously filmed Danny’s wedding and photographed the christening of his young child.
After getting some great shots of the Groom and Best Man it was time to prepare for the arrival of the bride.
Here Comes the Bride
Kay looked stunning when she arrived. I was able to spend a few minutes getting some lovely shots of her in the car. Then I had to race into the ceremony-room to get into position for her entry.
The whole ceremony was lovely and very moving… After postponing the wedding twice because of Covid I could see the relief in the couples eyes as finally they were able to tie the knot.
Formal Shots and Portraits
Once the ceremony was over we asked people to make their way outside for the ‘formal’ shots. Following the ‘formal’ shots I then wandered quietly around the grounds with Kay and Ryan getting some lovely portraits with the new Bride and Groom. After that it was time to capture excitement and fun of the food and the speeches.
The First Dance
Around 7pm and with the light outside looking fantastic I went for another walk with the newlyweds around the grounds and achieved some stunning shots of them both before returning with them for the first dance.
